My husband and I are coached by our host on which subway train to use to get downtown to the new 9/11 Memorial and Museum. It will require a change of trains at Union Station. We get schooled in the difference between a local train and an express. Between the two of us, we should have numbers and lines straight. After buying a metro card and getting on the train, we stand hanging on for dear life. A kindly young passenger must sense our unease and says he will tell us when we are at our stop. When we get off at Fulton Street, the rest of the passengers, all tourists, too, follow us and head up the stairs. The reverse trip home should be a piece of cake.
