Distinguished by its “wishbone” shape, Keuka Lake is a popular recreational spot, famous for its hiking and biking trails, while also housing a few well-known wineries. Its shores are home to the villages of Hammondsport to the south, and Penn Yan to the North.
In my estimation it is a lot of fun to shop and dine in Hammondsport year round--Keuka Lake Bakery for homemade breads and pastries with good sandwiches, too; Union Square Italian Bistro; Bully Hill Vineyard restaurant; Glenn H. Curtiss Museum; Dr. Konstintine Frank Vineyard.
At the northern end of the lake Penn Yan has its treasures, too.
Near Dundee I love to go to McGregor's Vineyard for its sit-down tasting overlooking the lake from a higher vantage point.
