One of my favorite memories of traveling in Europe during the holiday season was attending the Christkindlemarkts and viewing the displays of handmade items and eating freshly made molasses cookies. The markets originated in Europe, and date back to the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, which began in 1545, as a “Christmas Wonderland.”
Now in Canandaigua, the Christkindl market with more than 110 regional vendors, varying between jewelry, painting, photography, pottery, soaps and lotions, toys and wood, will present their crafts and products at the fifth annual event . Though the juried market has been full the past three years, a different set of vendors is chosen each year.
It takes place at the Granger Homestead, 295 N. Main St., Canandaigua with its impressive backdrop for such an event.
Friday, Nov. 11, 1 to 7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 12, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is $6
