171 Cedar Arts Center has issued a call to regional artists of all ages to participate in the 2012 exhibit to celebrate Dr. King.  The exhibit, a component of 171's multi-arts celebration of Making Real The Dream, is an annual celebration of the life and legacy of civil rights activist, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Artists are asked to submit artwork in any medium for display, or perform original music, dance or spoken word created in response to the theme The Dream.  The exhibit will be on display January 13 through February 3, 2012 in 171 Cedar Arts Center's Houghton Gallery.  Performances will take place at 171 Cedar Arts Center in the Drake House Studio Theater on Friday, January 13 beginning at 7 pm.

Artists may submit up to two pieces of artwork in any medium
Artwork must have been created within the last two years
2- and 3-dimensional wall art must be wired for hanging and not weigh more than 25 pounds
Sculpture must not weigh more than 50 pounds and its dimensions must not exceed two feet in any direction.  If sculptural work requires assembly, then it should be hand delivered during installation week - please call and make an appointment
Artwork must be suitable for all-age audiences, including young children
