171 Cedar Arts Center’s Houghton Gallery, Corning, will host a reception and artist talk for “Looking Out, Thinking Back,” an exhibit by painter Amy Greenan of Niagara Falls, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16. The event is free and open to the public.
“Looking Out, Thinking Back” is a series of paintings of abandoned houses by Greenan, who grew up in what was previously an abandoned house. Her paintings “explore the similarities between these houses and the human body and human experience, a sense of history, and the function of memory,” according to 171.
The Houghton Gallery is open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday- Thursday, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays. For details, call 936-4647.
