winter pulled up stakes

Winter pulled up stakes
And left for good this year.
Believe me, I can tell.
Walking down the muddy
Dirt road the soles
Of my sneakers are covered
With its leftover residue.

 Water run-off
Hums a march of victory
Starting to erase the stale
Telltale signs of Old Man Winter.
Crooked leftover banksof snow
Shaded with grit and grim chant
A testament to the snowplow’s
Winter work.
It is over
For another year.
