The Rochester Folk Art Guild will have its 2011 Spring Festival of Crafts
Friday, 10-8 p.m., and Saturday 10-5 p.m., of Easter weekend, April 22 and 23.
The recent work in the Pottery Shop includes large and small pieces with delicate cutting and carving. Big vases, or birdbaths and planters could grace your garden. Traditional tableware for eating, drinking, and displaying flowers enhances everyday life.
The Clothing Designers have colorful twisters, jackets and scarves. Their hip-length jackets are bright in hand dyed 100% hemp canvas, each with a unique vintage ikat embellishment.
The woodworkers have concentrated on turning, showing salad bowls in various sizes and small decorative bowls with natural bark edges. Rustic furniture has been made from slabs of fine local woods, and Oriental rugs will be offered for sale from a local importer.
Toddlers always choose the Block Tunnel from among the toys.
In addition to crafts, the Guild will once again present an array of books, including a variety of children’s books, as well as myriad books on spirituality and art.
The Guild will also offer a selection of hand-made and printed stationary and even music CDs. There will also be a special exhibit of Peruvian textiles brought back from a South American trip.
