desiring more from a modern theater

Last evening I attended a student performance of "A Streetcar Named Desire," at the Alfred University's new Miller Performing Arts Theater. I was curious to sit in the state -of -the -art theater, and see how the spaciousness, sound and staging possibilities would enhance a seasoned group of college performers.
Unfortunately, cutting corners on cost- I think- had rendered a theater on a steep hill a difficult approach to seating- and uncomfortable ones at that. The sound seemed almost muted and did not resonate well into the theater. I left thoroughly disappointed in the venue, but not in the enthusiasm of the performers.
