diary of a steuben civil war soldier on auction block

I found an interesting article in The Evening Tribune in Hornell about a Diary of a Steuben Civil War Soldier that will be auctioned in New York City.
The diary is by Private Leander S. Chamberlin, who lived near Meads Creek in the Town of Campbell and enlisted in the 141st New York Infantry regiment in 1862. He served until the end of the war in 1865.
Diaries are primary documents that enable us to get a picture of the conditions and times from a first hand source.
