fall solstice upon us

Seasonal changes have been slipping into our lives for the past several weeks, but  the Fall Solistice  on the calendar marks the official beginning of autumn. There is a different smell in the air mornings, and by afternoon the light recedes into twilight  earlier. Although this week the temperatures are rising by noon, we can't be fooled into any more that Indian summer for a bit. It must be nature's way of preparing us gently for changes a comin'.
Today I am going shopping locally to get some natural cider, and buy a bushel of apples for making applesauce.
The pumpkins of assorted sizes and shapes are displayed out by our lamposts and near the house welcoming all for fall festivities.
Posting night guard duty over the garden.
