Shop local farmers' markets for fresh eats

I am trying to make a concerted effort to shop local market stands, and forgo trucked- in produce and fruits from other parts of the country-or world, for that matter. There are so many markets to choose from in the Finger Lakes, and in every direction that I drive, there appears to be another roadside stand or weekly farmer's market to attend.
It just makes sense  that homegrown fruits and vegetables in range of my location are the healthiest way to go. Then there is the idea of supporting local small business enterprises that  go out of their way to make a difference in the community.
The latest choices at the self-serve market- Remember to bring small bills and change!
On top of that, I am making a goal to eat only seasonal fruits and veggies when they are at their freshest.   The delicious juices and tenderness when something is ripe from the garden, or picked from the tree, is the best part about it!
Happy eating this summer!
